giving students a sense of completion and achievement. However, TBL teachers evaluate students
based on the task results and the language they use by giving students follow-up tasks.
-Teacher is tolerant of studentserrors in CLT and may note the errors during fluency activities
and return to them later with an accuracy- based activity. In TBLerror correction is done through
recasts or modeling by giving brief grammar explanations.
Advantages of TBL:
- strong communicative approach
- students have a much more varied exposure to the language
- the language explored arises from the students‘ needs
- enjoyable and motivating
We are convinced that teachers should know the main methods and approaches used in
teaching foreign languages. This knowledge will help them to evaluate their own method in the
light of their own beliefs and experience. Some teachers may stick to their own method of teaching,
others may see both advantages and disadvantages of their method.
We also agree with methodologists, that there is no superiority of one method over another.
The modern language teacher doesn‘t follow one rigid method, but applies the Principled
Eclecticism approach – fitting the method to the learner, not vice versa. This means choosing the
techniques and activities that are appropriate for each particular task, context and learner, with a
focus on motivation and helping learners become independent and inspired to learn more.
The teacher decides what methodology or approach to use depending on the aims of the lesson
and the learners in the group. Almost all modern course books have a mixture of approaches and
methodologies. A typical lesson might combine elements from different methods.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE IELTS TEST?
SPEAKING STRATEGIES

The IELTS is becoming one of the most required international tests to define individuals‘ level of
knowledge of the English language to apply to study abroad. The IELTS Test is used to determine people's
ability to read, write and speak in English. It also establishes someone's ability to listen to spoken English.
IELTS stands for the International English Language Testing System.
What is the IELTS Test for?
There are two types of IELTS Test: 1. General Training: the General Training IELTS Test is mainly
used to test the English skills of people who want to further their careers by working in a country where
English is spoken as a first language; 2. Academic: the academic IELTS Test is mainly used to test the
English of people who want to take further or higher education courses at colleges or universities in a
country where English is spoken as a first language. Although this website covers aspects of the General
Training IELTS Test, the focus of the site is to help people prepare for the Academic IELTS Test.
What is the IELTS Test like? The IELTS Test is quite different from other English language tests
available. The testing philosophy behind a number of English tests is to show what people know about
English rather than show what they can do in English. The assumption is, for instance, that if people know a
lot about grammar and have a good vocabulary, they must be able to use English well. Of course, this is not
necessarily the case. Many students are extremely good at grammar and have a good range of vocabulary,
but they are not very good at communication in the language.
Unlike many tests, the IELTS Test does not have grammar questions or questions specifically on
vocabulary. Instead, the IELTS Test has a number of 'tasks' with specific objectives. In the test, your goal is
to achieve the objective. This means that you answer questions about a dialogue or a monologue that you
listen to. You have to read a number of texts and answer questions based on the text. You will have to write
essays and you will have to speak to a native English speaker. As you can see, the IELTS Test is very much
a test of what you can do in English, rather than what you know.
How can you do well in the IELTS Test? It is important to remember that to do well in the IELTS Test
you should be able to speak well, write well, read well and be able to understand spoken English - it is as
simple as that. Although you can prepare for the test, it is not a matter of memorizing grammar or vocabulary
- you cannot prepare for the IELTS Test in this way. You will need to work really hard to get the score you
need to get the IELTS score you need to study overseas!
What is the format of the IELTS Test? The IELTS Test has four test 'modules' to test each skill - a
listening module, a reading module, and writing module and a speaking test. Generally, the test is in this
order, but the speaking test can take place before, or after the other modules.
The Speaking test is a face-to-face conversation with a certified examiner. It is as close to a real-life
situation as a test can get. We suggest looking through some strategies in improving speaking skills.
There are some strategies how to pass speaking test successfully. Speaking test consists of three
parts. Speaking Part 1 doesn‘t really affect your score. In Part 1 of the speaking test the examiner has two
objectives: the first is to make you relaxed and the second is to get a quick idea of your ability. The first is
important because the examiner wants you to have the best chance of getting a high score. The second is
important because the examiner may want to avoid asking you questions that are much too difficult for your
ability level. So focus on getting comfortable and try to be as natural as possible. There‘s no point getting
stressed in Part 1 because the scoring hasn‘t even begun yet.
IELTS Speaking Part 2: Useful Language. In the individual long-turn part of IELTS Speaking, you
have to talk for one to two minutes on a topic chosen by the examiner. This is the only part of the Speaking
module in which a time limit applies, so there‘s more pressure to speak quickly and without hesitation.
However, it‘s also the easiest part to practice, as answers tend to follow a similar pattern regardless of the
topic. The useful language below will help you structure a response in Part 2. How you use it depends on the
question.
