Timeline
Learners guess the events according to the given dates on the board.
First, they discuss this with partners. Second, teacher helps learners by
giving hints (events which happened) and learners are to match years
and events. After having finished this activity, learners write the dates
and events in their copybooks (because this information might help them
at summative writing or speaking).

The first man in Space, Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin, orbited
the Earth;
1969-
American Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the
moon;
1981-
Columbia, the first spacecraft, made its first flight.
2001-
A billionaire businessman called Denis Tito paid $20 million to
become the first space tourist.
2018-
The USA plans to spend $100 billion on a mission to put humans
back on the moon by 2018.
Pre-listening
Learners make a list of words they are most likely to hear in the record-
ing about SPACE TOURISM. They read out loud their words to the
class.

Listening
Play the recording. Twice if necessary

Task 1: Listen to five people talking about space tourism. Match the
speakers (1-5) to their opinions (A-F). There is one opinion that you
do not need.
