1. Phonetically it – a combination of two vowels: the vowel [i] + vowel [e:]. The combination is found 
only in the word: demiurge. This combination of the word is unstressed. 
2. Phonetically it is a combination of the diphthong [ai] (one syllable) + vowel [i]. The stress with this 
combination falls on the second vowel. For example: triumphant. 
The combination of ou 
There are three ways of phonetic reading of this combination: 
1. Phonetically it – diphthong [ai], transmitting one syllable. Stress in words: about, account [e'kaunt], 
accountant. 
2. In words borrowed from the French language, the combination is pronounced as a long vowel sound 
[and:]: accoutre. 
The combination of ua 
Phonetically it is a combination of two sounds: a long vowel [u(:)] + vowel [e]. 
In a word: truant ['tru(:)ent], the stress falls on the first vowel combinations. 
The combination of ui 
There are two ways of reading the phonetic combinations: 
1. Phonetically it – one vowel / U /. The combination is read as one vowel [i]. For example: building 
['bilditj]. 
2. Phonetically it – a combination of two sounds: consonant [j] + long vowel sound [and:]. Read as [ju:] 
before the letter 
v
. For example, suit [sju:t], suitable. The stress falls on the first vowel combinations.
