Explanatory proceedings

Course “Profession-Oriented Foreign Language” is recommended for students of
teacher candidate professionals who wish to learn how to use language skills in an
area of specialization. This course is included to the Government Compulsory
Education Standard as a core course of major 5В010200 – Pedagogy and Method of
Primary Education
The aim of this course is to teach students who have basic understanding of
English Grammar Structure to develop speaking, listening and reading skills in
specific field of profession. Students will gain the underpinning knowledge
necessary to enable them to develop an holistic understanding of all aspects of
primary education and current issues and theories in English, which will support all
other studies on the course.
This course is provided with different assignments aimed on learning
pedagogical and methodological terms, teaching different types of reading, working
with dictionary, writing essays and speaking on specified topics.
Indicative contents:

Discussions and negotiations with English-speaking colleagues

On successful completion of this course, students will demonstrate:

Ability to use strategies to decipher the unknown, e.g. other cultures,
unfamiliar thoughts or behaviour, challenging texts, unknown words and

to enable intercultural competence, to develop the willingness to accept and
respect people from different linguistic and cultural communities

Strategies for independent learning, e.g. using dictionaries
2 credits: 15 hours (lectures), 15 hours (seminars), 30 hours (independent
study supervising), 30 hours (independent study).
Course pre-requisites are. The initial requirement of studying the course is
the successful mastering of students the course "Profession-oriented foreign
language". The course is entered after the end of learning:
• the block of core psycho-pedagogical courses (introduction in a pedagogical
profession, pedagogic, ethno pedagogic, psychology and the development of
individuality, the method of the pedagogical research), as the basis of pedagogical
terms, meta-subject terms of pedagogical research;
• theoretical basis of the native language, as the basis of language terms, basis
of mathematics of elementary school, the children's literature and natural sciences,
as the basis of general scientific and specific terms used by the teacher of
elementary education;
• the block of special disciplines at choice of psycho-pedagogical orientation. For
example, such as: «modern pedagogical technologies of elementary education»,
«psychology of a young schoolboy and method of the definition of readiness of
children to school»;
• private methods of training (the theory of teaching) to disciplines of elementary
school: to the reading and writing, foreign language, native language, literary
reading, world knowledge (or "World around"), computer science, the fine arts,
music, physical training, development of written speech, labor training,
"Wellbeing".
