Any system of either type may be surpassed by a better, more elaborate and costly system 
of the other type. 
Generally it would be less expensive to achieve a given standard with digital media 
than it is with analog media, making digital media far more popular. To add to that, digital 
media devices tend to be smaller in size, making  it more portable, whereas analog media 
come in bulky figures. 
Mass Media.Mass media is what we call any form of media that has to do with mass 
communication.In  other  words  all  the  technologies  that  can  spread  information,  audio, 
television,  etc.  As  technology  develops,  so  does  the  media.  The  revolution  in  technology 
has had a great affect on the media in the 21
st
 century. 
Due  to  wireless  communication,  satellite  and  other  technologies,  mass  media  has 
gotten even more efficient. There are three forms of mass media: 
- Broadcasting media–thisincludes TV and radio; 
- Printing media–thisincludes magazines and newspapers; 
- Internet media– thisthe webs on the internet. 
Some people refer to  mass  media as  «mainstream  media», considering the fact  that 
mass media tends to stick with media that will be interesting to the people. Mass media has 
a  very  big  affect  on  public  perceptions.  This  can  be  used  to  solve  or  create  important 
issues,  both  by  sending  information  and  the  explanation  the  give  upon  this  information. 
Many  people  in  the  world  rely  on  mass  media  as  their  news.  It  is  globally  a  very  big 
business. Most people think that mass media is just news, but it can also be the source of 
entertainment  and  education.  Since  the  percentage  of  people  who  use  mass  media  is  so 
large, it is considered as the instrument of mass control. This means that mass media has 
the power to control entire populations. We can use this at our advantage. We can use the 
mass media to teach English to the people. 
Cell  Phones.Cell  phones  are  used  to  make  or  receive  telephone  calls.  Unlike  the 
telephone,  they  don‟t  use  cables.  They  use  a  radio  link  to  receive  and  make  are  able  to 
function. Cell phones are classified as digital media, although the telephone is analog. Cell 
phones  nowadays  have  computers  programmed  inside  them.  This  allows  them  to  have 
more functions. They have the features of a mobile phone along with a PDA. Modern low-
end cell phones can have calendars, calculator, notes, stopwatches, etc. 
Internet  access  is  included  in  some  feature  phones,  but  they  can  only  visit  mobile-
optimized sites. This is what makes the cell phone a part of mass media. Although calling 
and  text  messaging  is  not  mass  communication,  the  internet  is.  High-end  cell  phones, 
otherwise known as smart phones, can even act as portable media players, camera phones, 
and web browsers. 
Smart  phones  usually  have  advanced  computing  abilities  compared  to  those  of 
feature phones. Smart phones are capable of entering standard websites, unlike the feature 
phone which can only open mobile-optimized sites. They can even have GPS, Wi-Fi and 
mobile  broadband  access.  This  gives  the  cell  phone  a  very  important  place  in  the  media. 
Cell  phones  have  a  big  role  in  human  life.  Theymalea  reasonable  difference  in 
communication. They are light and very portable. Their size is very small, allowing us to 
put it in our pockets. 
Computers.A  computer  is  a  machine  that  can  be  programmed.  It  is  designed  to 
automatically carry out a sequence of arithmetic or logical operations. Humans can use the 
computer for many reasons. Humans can use the computer for many reasons. The interface 
between the human and computer is called «user interface». Usually computers have their 
memory or data storage. This memory saves the sequence of operations, so that it can be 
used once again later when it is needed.

The processing unit of the computer executes series of instructions that make it read, 
manipulate and store the data. Analog computers were used for military purpose, whereas 
the first digital computer was made in the 20
th
 century. It took up size of a room and used a 
lot  of  energy.  Computers  can  be  fitted  into  nearly  anything,  including  mobile  phones, 
fighter  jets,  mp3  players  and  even  toys.  But  when  people  hear  the  word  «computer»  the 
first  thing  that  comes  to  mind  is  the  personal  computer  (PC).  This  is  because  PCs  size, 
capabilities, and original sales price make it useful for individuals, making it very popular.

 century. The PC, like the cell phone, has quite a 
lot of uses and programs. People can use their PC to write, make slideshows, make and edit 
audio  or  video  files,  browse  the  web,  etc.  Modern  day  PCs  are  usually  connected  to  the 
World Wide Web (Internet). This is what makes the PC a part of mass media. As a matter 
of fact the PC performs  better than the cell phone. It has more memory, higher standards 
and usually faster internet connection. 
The only factor that limits the PCs capabilities in spreading the media is the fact that 
it is so big. But there are other forms of PCs that come smaller, lighter and more portable. 
Laptops,  tablet  PCs  and  handheld  PCs  are  very  popular  nowadays.  Although  their 
performance might not be as high as the traditional PC, they are portable and still have, if 
not all, some of the high-performance characteristics of the PC. The dominant markets of 
the  world  now  are  Windows  and  Apple‟s  Mac  OSX.  As  time  passes,  each  market  is 
making  better  models  of  their  computers,  which  means  that  the  media  is  also  taking  a 
bugger grasp of the world. 
Internet.The  Internet  is  a  global  system  of  interconnected  computer  networks  that 
serve  billons  of  users  worldwide.  The  Internet  is  also  often  referred  to  as  the  Net.  It  is  a 
network  of  networks  that  consists  of  millions  of  private,public,  academic,  business,  and 
government  networks,  of  local  to  global  scope,  that  are  linked  by  a  broad  array  of 
electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries a vast range 
of information resources and services, such as the inter-linked hypertext documents of the 
World  Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to  support electronic mail.  The  Internet 
has three main uses: information, communication and data transfer. 
Nowadays, due to the revolution in technology, many people use the internet to get 
the data that they want. The Web has also enabled individuals and organizations to publish 
ideas and information to a potentially large audience online at greatly reduced expense and 
time delay. Publishing a web page, a blog, or building a website involves little initial cost 
and  many  sot-free  services  are  available.  Publishing  and  maintaining  large,  professional 
web  sites  with  attractive,  diverse  and  up-to-date  information  is  still  a  difficult  and 
expensive  proposition,  however.  Many  individuals  and  some  companies  and  groups  use 
web  logs  or  blogs,  which  are  largely  used  as  easily  updatable  online  diaries.  Some 
commercial  organizations  encourage  staff  to  communicate  advice  in  their  areas 
ofspecializationin  the  hope  that  visitors  will  be  impressed  by  the  expert  knowledge  and 
free information, and be attracted to the corporation as a result. 
Electronic  mail,  or  email,  is  an  important  communications  service  available  on  the 
Internet.  The  concept  of  sending  electronic  text  messages  between  parties  in  a  way 
analogous  to  mailing  letters  or  memos  predates  the  creation  of  the  Internet.  Pictures, 
documents  and other  files are sent  as email  attachments. Emails  can be cc-ed to  multiple 
email  addresses.  An  email  address  identifies  an  email  box  to  which  email  messages  are 
delivered. Instant messages (IM) are also  available. They immediately send the messages 
in  between  two  users.  But  if  one  user  offline,  the  message  will  not  be  sent.  Internet 
telephone is another common communications service made possible by the creation of the 
Internet.  VoIP  stands  for  Voice-over-Internet  Protocol,  referring  to  the  protocol  that
