ACRONYMS. EVOLUTION OR DEGRADATION OF LANGUAGE 

 

The Internet has become a communication tool for many people. Visiting different sites, 

forums, chats, communicating by e-mail, we noticed that in the virtual space of the word often 

used  by  the  rules.  The  texts  are  written  "on  the  run"  and  look  about  the  same:  no  punctuation, 

often without capital letters, with many abbreviations and misspellings. 

I  have  thought  a  long  time  about  the  theme  of  my  work,  as  I  am  myself  a  user  of  the 

Internet.  I don’t know English fluently, and for this reason my purpose is to study English for 

myself and for my specialty.  

 I am not indifference the fate of the language in which I want to talk.  

There are problems that have arisen with the advent of Internet-slang and this problems 

are not resolved up to now: 

-  A  network  of  slang  has  become  a  fashionable  trend  in  the  new  style  of  online 

communication  and  spelling  in  sites,  blogs  and  chat  rooms,  misspellings  becomes  a  habit  and 

becomes the cause of the fall of literacy; 

- Internet slang comes now not only from the virtual space, but also on television and on 

the  pages  of  the  print  media;  -when  you  need  to  speak  beautifully,  intelligently,  freely,  it 

becomes impossible to express your thoughts and emotions without slangs. 

Most of these acronyms created through the consonance of some words with numbers and 

letters of the alphabet: 

C - see (the verb to see, «see») 

R - are (verb to be, «be» in the 2 liter units h...) 

U - you ( «you») 

2 - two ( «two»), to (preposition "in", "on"), of too ("too") 

4 - four, for (4U - «for you») 

8 - ate (the verb to eat, «is» in the Past Simple)
