1. The discipline “Professional foreign language (introduction to professional
communications)” is a component of three-cyclic preparation of the graduate
speaking another language. It’s provided by the curriculum for students of the third
year.
2. Prior requisite of the discipline is first cycle of training (discipline "Foreign
language", 1-2 course), and also an educational program disciplines for the
preparation direction. «The professional foreign language (introduction in
professional communications)», in turn, forms base and motivation for the further
studying and active use of a professional foreign language in III cycle of training
(3 course).
3. The discipline content consists of two modules, which is interconnected on the
principle of hierarchy and integration.
4. Selection of the discipline content “Professional foreign language (introduction
in professional communications)» is carried out on the basis of the analysis of the
problem subject area according to a direction of preparation of the graduate for the
specialty “Informatics”.
5. Innovative educational technologies were taken a training basis.
6. The discipline program is constructed on a basis competence, contextually
activity and communicative approaches.
The TEACHING PURPOSE of DISCIPLINE is formation of a basic level of the
professional communicative competence speaking another language.
The TEACHING OBJECTIVES of DISCIPLINE:
– formation of student’s skills of communication and exchange of information on
professional subjects;
– improvement of skills and abilities of oral and Writting on
the foreign language, necessary for professional communication;
– improvement of skills of grammatical registration statements.
As a result of discipline studying students should seize base competences:
– ability to formation and objective assessment of personal level of claims, and
also possession of skills of increase of level of the intellectual development;
– a consecutive and competent formulation and the statement of thinking,
possession of skills of oral and Writting in foreign language for working with
scientific texts and public statements;
– ability to use knowledge of foreign language for communication and
understanding of special texts.
The base competences as a result of discipline studying
Students should know:
– about a place, a role, kinds of oral and written communications in professional
work;
– about the basic sources of the professional information speaking another
language;
– about world trends in the development of science and technology in a particular
area of training;

– terms connected with subjects of studied sections and corresponding situations of
is professional-business communications;
– the basic international symbols and designations related to subject area;
– requirements to registration and documentation conducting (within the program),
accepted in is professional-business communications;
Student’s skills:
– to operate grammar confidently, which is characteristic for a professional foreign
language (within the program);
– to operate with studied terminological units in speech;
– to verbalize symbols, formulas, schemes and diagrams;
– to understand the information, to distinguish main and minor, essence and details
in texts (oral and written) is professional-business character within the limits of the
studied themes;
– to take an information from the texts (written and oral) which is characteristic
for professional-business;
– to generate a discourse (a monologue, dialogue), using the communicative
strategy adequate to studied is professional-focused situations (telephone
negotiations, interview, presentation, etc.);
– to produce written texts studied sections of subject area;
– to annotate texts of professional character;
– to translate texts from a foreign language into Kazakh (Russian) which is of
professional character within the limits of the studied themes;
– to prepare and act presentations for the given themes (within the limits of the
program);
to have experience:
– usage dictionaries, including terminological;
– preparation and performances presentations;
– to conduct discussions for given themes which is connected with professional
work (within the limits of the program);
– to work with written and oral texts studied sections subject area;
– an effective utilization of the communicative strategy is specific to professional-
business situations.
Prior- requisites: for successful studying of this discipline it is necessary to own
basic concepts I of a cycle of training (discipline "English", 1-2 semester), and also
disciplines of an educational program in the preparation direction.
Post-requisites: "Professional English" forms base and motivation for active use
of English when studying disciplines of subject preparation.
