THE GROWING INFLUENCE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ON THE KAZAKH CULTURE

қарастырылады.  Мәдениеттің  жаһандануы  жайлы  талқыланып,  оның  оң  және  теріс  ықпалы 

туралы сөз қозғалады.Тілдердің өзараәрекеттестігі және тіл мен мәдениеттің жаһандық таралуы 

туралы айтылады. 

Аннотация. В этой статье обсуждается влияние английского языка на казахскую культуру.  

Рассматривается  глобализации  культуры,  ее  положительного  и  отрицательного  воздействия  и 

говорится о взаимодействии языков и глобальном распределении языка и культуры. 

 

It is a great achievement for any country to preserve its language and culture. To gain access to the 

top  30  developed  countries,  it  is  also  important  to  have  a  world  language  proficiency  in  promoting 

knowledge and skills. However, preserving language and culture in the 21st century has become a challenge. 

Nowadays,  it  is  well-known  that  young  people  studying  the  language  do  not  only  learn foreign  languages, 

but also apply their culture to their everyday life. At the same time, the English language, which has acquired 

the  status  of  the  world  language  in  the  near  future,  is  expanding.  Accordingly,  the  influence  of  English-

language  culture  on  young  people  has  been  intensifying.  Reforms  on  English  language  learning  and 

transition to three languages are in place in our country, so that we can have a window with other countries, 

to be competitive. However, in addition to English, some parts of her culture are also accustomed to Kazakh 

national traditions. If we want to learn a different language and start learning from its culture and history, do 

we not lose our tradition and tradition that we become the world's leading states? At the same time, I want to 

analyze the impact of studying English on our country and its impact on our culture. 

Let us begin by examining the world of English, which we have been accustomed to and learn, from 

the point of view of a positive impact on the development of the Kazakh nation as a state. First of all, as I 

said above, nowadays English has been recognized as the "first" nationwide, the first place among the world 

languages. There are many existing brands, world-famous brands, well-known companies, about a dozen of 

IT technologies, and all new information is in the English language. A simple example is the Internet that we 

use  daily.  About  54%  of  online  information  is  published  in  English  and  30%  of  them  have  not  yet  been 

translated. And if we get the rest of the languages for comparison, then the Russian language information is 

published  in  the  second  place,  and  the  percentage  of  their  full  coverage  is  6.0.  These  statistics  have  been 

published on March 30, 2019 [1]. Based on the specific facts we have, we can confidently say that a person 

who knows English is one step ahead of others in the 21st century. In the information world, the person who 

engages in production requires only business activity and attentiveness. It now needs access to information 

sources,  and  it  should  be  able  to  use  it.  The  social  well-being  of  the  country  is  measured  not  only  by  the 

availability  and funding  of  natural resources,  but  also  by  the  level  of  public awareness in  the  field  of  new 

ideas and technologies, its education, intellectual development, creative potential. In the overall structure of 

this wealth, the value of cultural capital is rarely increased even in relation to natural and economic wealth 

[2, р.15]. Even more than half of the vocabulary of every person living in a contemporary style is English. 

All of the successful businesswomen, such as "teambuilding", "hashtag", "training", "coaching", "coaching", 

"consulting", "franchising", translate words in the Kazakh language. Speaking of the advantages of using the 

above terms in linguistics, first of all, our speech is understandable. The reason for this is that the new tales 

of foreign words have yet to be spread all over the world. Secondly, the difficulties and misunderstandings in 

contracting with foreign companies are diminishing. Do not the two companies understand the language of 

each  other  easily  and  make  no  sense  in  the  environment?  This  is  a  good  motivation  for  businessmen  in 

learning English. Some issues related to terms may lead to deeper researches and conflicts of opinion. 

If we follow the principle that the stick has two ends, we can say that learning a foreign language and 

cultivating  a  culture  can  damage  our  original  language  and  our  traditions  that  have  long  been  established. 

First, if the whole world learns the same language, and if the culture of the same language appeals to them, it

will lead to global culture. Of course, the main sign of nationality and ethnicity is the language, and then the 

culture of that nation. Let's just recall what culture is. Spiritual and material cultures include the daily life of 

the  people,  the  style  of  clothing,  the  food  they  eat,  the  movies  they  watch,  the  speech  style,  and  the 

vocabulary of the language [3]. If the process of globalization of English culture is broad, it will affect the 

Kazakh people as well. It is a threat to the appearance of our culture as an image of foreign culture, just as 

we have to follow the dress code, to overcome our national costumes, to replace national food with foreign 

fast  food,  to  forget  the  Kazakh  words  in  our  original  language,  and  to  use  the  mass  of  new  nation-wide 

words. According to modern interpretations, global culture is explained this way. Globalization can also be 

called "international integration." Because globalization of culture in the world will be the basis of only one 

culture  in  the  world.  In  the  21st  century,  America's  culture  in  the  United  States  has  grown  into  a  world-

renowned state. We can see it with American sports and American sports figures. Basketball has become a 

sport  all  over  the  world.  And  not  just  that,  American  business  is  working  in  the  corners  of  the  world. 

Starbucks  and  McDonald's,  KFC,  are  a  small  example  of  American  business  that  is  widely  available 

worldwide.  You  can  find  these  businesses  in  major  cities  in  many  countries.  Globalization  also  affects 

traditional food in the country, which affects the local economy. Wide popularity of international restaurants 

affected  local  residents.  At  present,  international  cuisine  is  being  used  by  locals.  As  a  result,  local  and 

traditional  dishes  disappear.  Although  the  party  is  a  small  part  of  this  growing  culture,  it  is  definitely  a 

substitute for national cuisine and sports, clothing samples and traditions. 

If we analyze the language changes individually, we will come to terms with the above mentioned 

term.  It  is  also  possible  that  international  terms  can  be  translated  from  the  national  language  status  into 

"dead"  languages.  If  we  look  at  every  word  that  comes  from  a  foreign  language,  and  if  we  do  not  find 

alternative  alternatives,  we  can  lose  the  Kazakh  language  and  lose  its  national  status.  Even  if  we  use 

everyday words such as "audience", "lecture", we use "strange" words that are used in our daily routine, even 

though  they  have  Kazakh  equivalent.  Indeed,  if  our  lexicology  consist  only  of  international  terms,  it  is 

possible that almost every word in the Kazakh language vocabulary rises from year to year, it is possible that 

the Kazakh language can be used even in the middle of the century. 

In  conclusion,  it  can  be  seen  that  the  influence  of  the  popular  English-language  culture  on  the 

Kazakh  one is quite high. As you can see, cultural globalization is a very important issue for international 

relations. If we want to know all languages, we should respect our language, and in order to protect ourselves 

from the danger of losing a nation, we need to preserve and maintain our language and culture.
