The initial two-letter combinations In the text of the novel "The Forsyte Saga" are found following ten two-letter combinations of vowels in  the beginning of a word:  аа, ai, аи, еа, оа, oi, ои, уа, уе, уо. The combination of aa  Phonetically – is one long vowel [a:]. The stress falls on the specified sound combinations in a word:  aard-wolf ['a:d yvulf ] 'earth wolf'.  The combination of ai  Phonetically:  1. The combination of two sounds: the vowel [e] + vowel [i].  2. The combination of the two sounds: According to [e] + vowel [e] (before the letter g) was put to one  syllable.  In the initial position of the word combination  ai recorded five times. For example: aid [eid] 'assist, to  promote', ail [eil] 'harass'. Before the consonant  r  this combination is read as: [ee]. For example, air [ee] 'air'.  The combination is unstressed.  The combination of au  Phonetically it is – one long vowel [a:].  The combination is met rarely, found only in the word: authorize. The stress falls on the first vowel  combination.  The combination of ea  Phonetically it is – one long vowel: [i:].  This combination before consonants:  g, t is read as one vowel [i:]. The stress falls on the specified vowel  combination. For example: eager ['i: gә] ' desirous', eater [' i:tә] 'eater, eating fruits'.    The combination of oa  There are three options for the phonetic reading of this combination:  1. Phonetically it is diphthong [ou] transmitting one syllable. The combination is used in many words, the  stress falls on the first vowel. For example: oaken 'oak', oaten 'oat '.  2. Phonetically it is a combination of the two diphthongs: [ou] + [ei], transmitting one syllable. The  combination recorded in the word: oasis [ou 'eisis] 'oasis'. Stress falls on the second diphthong [ei].  3. Phonetically it is one long vowel [a:]. The combination is used in the word of the oar [ɔ:].  жүктеу 6,12 Mb.
