Weight
Weight is the gravitational force exerted on the object by the earth. Weight is measured in Newtons, because it is a kind of force. On the earth the force exerted on a 1 kg body is 9.8 N, but for simplicity in calculations, it is taken as 10 N/kg.
As shown in the figure above, a 1 kg mass has a weight of 10 N, a 2 kg mass has a weight 20 N, and so on, we calculate weight as follows:
Weight = mass * g in symbols, W= m * g
Where g is the gravitational field strength. Neat the earth’s surface gravitational field strength is 10 N/kg. For example, if an object has a 20 kg mass, using the formula its weight is,
